The beautiful mosaic that graces the banner of my amizade, is from a photo of a small section of an 80-foot-long and 17-foot-high mosaic called Spiral Fantasia -- A Child's Dream. The mosaic by Baltimore-based artist Mari Gardner is installed on the main entrance of the Glazer Children's Museum in Tampa, FL, facing Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

According to a Jan. 21, 2010 article in the Tampa Bay Times, Gardner says the spirals within a spiral design convey discovery, imagination and playful expression. In the article Gardner explains how the mosaic-making process is like community projects, "Little tiny pieces coming together to make one big design like a bunch of people make up a community."
